MIND SO BLESSED
My eyes, ears and mouth
must have committed
grievous sins
since they are not
able
always to feast on
your divine form,
listen to
your nectarine words
and converse with you
earnestly.
My
mind, however,
has been blessed
munificently
in that it holds you
all the time
in unremitting
reverence!
[Tamil poem by Mayuram
Vedanayagam Pillai
(1827 – 1889) addressed in an epistle to Subramania Desikar, Pontiff of the Tiruvavaduturai
Adheenam. Poem in
Tamil rendered into English by Sage TGN]
